Alwoodley provided a stern test in the Open Amateur Championship which took place from 27th to 29th September.
The 72 hole strokeplay event was won by the current English Amateur champion Dan Brown, from Masham. His aggregate score of 282, 2 under par, was 9 strokes ahead of second place George Bloor, from Cavendish.
In third place was Jack Yule, from Middleton Hall, who shot a 66 in Round 2 - a new record for the recently extended course
The tough layout of this heathland course, and some early autumn weather, provided a true test of golf. The cut for the final 2 rounds was at 151 - 9 over par but only 1 over the CSS.
The event was in only its fourth year but is already established as a feature in the calendar, being a great championship with which to end the season.
Congratulations to Dan Brown, a worthy champion!
